The family of James Anthony Ciglan has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to honor their hero at his final military honors. It will be our privilege to fulfill their request.
James proudly served in the United States Army from 1967-1972. At the time of his honorable dischargem he held the rank of Sp4 (E-4). James earned medals for Sharpshooter (Rifle M-14) and Marksman (Rifle M-16). He served several tours in Vietnam and was presented with the Vietnam Service Medal and Vietnam Campaign Medal with 2 stars. His MOS was 98C20 Traffic Analyst - intercepting radio traffic of the enemy and interpreting their meaning for the intelligence they provided.
After his military service he continued his education in computer science, inter-active WEB development, psychology and photography.
He resumed his service to America working for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. He was responsible for the operation of the department’s mainframe and mini-computers. He actively continued his technical education and advanced to the position of Systems Analyst II. He retired from the LASO in 2013 after 34 years’ service and relocated from Pomona to Huntington Beach.
In his younger years he was an avid cyclist and later enjoyed photography and gourmet cooking. He even tried his hand at surfing.
Our hero was preceded in death by his brother, Edward J. Ciglan, and sister, Nancy (Ciglan) Starner. His is survived and will be missed by many nieces and nephews along with their children.

If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the Ride Captain (RC). Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car). Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can. Please ride/drive safely.
Please remember that our mission is to stand tall and silent, and with honor and respect for our heroes. No talking, smoking, or cell phone use during the flag line or service. Please keep radios off and engine noise to a minimum. Observe the 15 MPH speed limit. Remember, cemeteries are hallowed ground. Show respect to all who are there, not just the ones we are honoring.
