The family of Frederick Gerlach, 92, has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to be present to honor their Hero for his service to his country. It will be our privilege to do so.

Frederick Gerlach joined the Navy in May of 1945 and retired in May 1987 from the Reserves. He was Honorably Discharged from active duty in May 1947, part of the Armed forces drawn down after World War II, and he joined the Reserves at that point. His military career spanned 42 years and he retired at the rank of Chief Petty Officer. Fred received several awards, some were; The Good Conduct award, National Defense service medal, battle efficiency award.

After his service in the Navy Fred dedicated his life to teaching. Fred had a way with those he mentored and was exceptionally focused on his student’s penmanship.  Because of this many of his students he would run into after their graduation, would credit him for their success and thank him for being a such a stickler to details. Fred was also fond of gardening and his yard was always the “Gem of the neighborhood”.

Frederick (92) is survived by his wife Deborah, Brice (Son), and Dale (Son), many other family members and friends.

NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran.
