CHP Officer Miguel Cano, 34, LEO/AD - Whittier - 17 July
« on: July 13, 2025, 07:20:37 AM »
The Patriot Guard Riders have been invited by the family of California Highway Patrol Officer Miguel Cano and the California Highway Patrol to participate in the funeral of their loved one.  It will be our honor and privilege to fulfill their request.

In November of 2023, after completing an intense 26-week training schedule, Officer Miguel Cano graduated from the California Highway Patrol Academy.

In the early morning hours of 02 July 2025, while on patrol out of the California Highway Patrol West Los Angeles Area office, Officer Cano suffered a medical emergency causing his patrol unit to run off the roadway and collide with a tree. Sadly, Officer Cano succumbed to his injuries.

Highway Patrol Commissioner, Sean Duryee stated, “We are devastated by the loss of Officer Cano, who gave his life while serving the people of California.” “His dedication, courage and commitment to public safety will never be forgotten.”

Officer Miguel Cano is survived by his wife, Melissa, and devoted parents.

"Blessed are the Peacemakers"

You do not have to be a veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission.  All PGR members are welcome.  We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car.  If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the Ride Captain (RC).  Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car).  Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can.  Please ride/drive safely.

Please remember that our mission is to stand tall and silent, and with honor and respect for our heroes.  No talking, smoking, or cell phone use during the flag line or service.  Please keep radios off and engine noise to a minimum.  Observe the 15 MPH speed limit.  Remember, cemeteries are hallowed ground.  Show respect to all who are there, not just the ones we are honoring.
