The family of Douglas Roice Norwood have requested the Patriot Guard Riders, to accompany Douglas to his final resting place. It is our honor to accommodate this Heroes last wishes. Doug is also a friend of our own Ride Captain, Craig Lane.

Doug was born 27 July 1956, in Oregon, and passed away peacefully 14 June 2025 at Mountain Lakes, a place he loved dearly. Doug was a proud Army veteran and served his country with honor and carried that same sense of duty and strength into everything he did. HE was Honorably Discharged as an E2. Doug drove truck over the road for 12 years, that took him countless miles all over this country. His heart always led him back to nature where he loved to camp, especially at Mountain Lakes where he found peace, solitude, and joy. Doug had a love for adventure. Camping was at the top of his list along with fishing and riding his Harley. He was also an avid Nascar fan and loved nothing more than a weekend with the race on, surrounded by the people and pets he loved. Doug was a devoted Father and Grandfather to his 4 children and 11 Grandchildren. All were the center of his world, and he always made sure that they knew how much he loved them all, including 2 dogs and 3 cats. Doug shared 30 years with his first wife Karen, whom he raised 2 sons. Their life together was rooted in love and Doug will be laid to rest beside her at Riverside National Cemetery. Doug would later find love again with his second wife Joanie and spent 8 wonderful years with her.

Doug is survived by 4 children, sons Dustin and Ryan, stepson Tony and stepdaughter Leslie. 11 Grandchildren, 1 sister and a brother along with numerous friends that will carry his memory in their hearts. Doug lived life on his terms, bold, loyal, and full of love and will leave behind a legacy of strength, adventure, and unwavering devotion to his family.
