The family of US Air Force Sergeant (SGT) Robert L Jones, age 72, has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to be present to honor their hero for his service. It will be our privilege to do so.
SGT Robert “Bob” Jones served with the USAF from Feb 1972 to Sept 1974.
Bob graduated from high school early and immediately volunteered for the USAF in Jan 1972. After basic training he received orders for Chanute AFB and received technical training as a Minuteman missile mechanic. In Jan 1974, Bob was transferred to Malstrom AFB, Great Falls, MT and attached to the 341st Missile Maintenance Squadron (Minuteman II’s). Thanks to the GI Bill, Bob earned two undergraduate degrees.
Bob was an avid motorcycle rider and rode with Rolling Thunder. Tragically, Bob died in a single person motorcycle accident while riding through Box Canyon Road on July 6th.
Bob leaves behind four siblings: Jeff, Denise, Kay and Larry (USAF); children: Robert Jr (US Navy), Kevin (US Army) and Eleana, along with six grandkids.
