Betty May Gillaspy 78, PGR Member - FLO/RNC - 08 Apr
« on: April 02, 2026, 09:03:12 PM »
Betty was born on May 7, 1948 and entered eternal rest on March 5, 2026.

Betty lived a life full of spunk and she would talk to anyone about anything. She loved to garden, craft, advocate for veterans and to spend time with her family.

Betty was a proud PGR member and honored many heroes alongside her husband, Gregory Gillaspy, who served in the Navy.  Betty also volunteered to take watch alongside her husband for "The Wall That Heals," often a night shift.  Betty and Gregory also attended the Orange Plaza Flag folding ceremony on a regular basis.

Betty is preceded in death by her mother, Garnet; her sister, Judy; brother, Bob; and her husband, Gregory.  Betty will be interred with her beloved husband.  Together they shared five children Joseph, Carry, Terie, Sherie, and Charles. She will be missed by her 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Betty was loved by many friends, family, neighbors and her community.

You do not have to be a veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission.  All PGR members are welcome.  We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car.  If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the Ride Captain (RC).  Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car).  Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can.  Please ride/drive safely.

Please remember that our mission is to stand tall and silent, and with honor and respect for our heroes.  No talking, smoking, or cell phone use during the flag line or service.  Please keep radios off and engine noise to a minimum.  Observe the 15 MPH speed limit.  Remember, cemeteries are hallowed ground.  Show respect to all who are there, not just the ones we are honoring.
