The family of James Michael Black, Jr. has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to accompany him and attend military honors as he makes his final journey.  It is our honor to do so.

James was born 17 Sep 1977 and tragically was killed 03 Dec 2019 by a fugitive who was alluding capture.

James joined in the Marine Corps as an enlisted serviceman 05 Sep 2000 progressing to the rank of 1stLt before discharge on 29 Nov 2007. James then joined the reserves 30 Nov 2007 till 15 May 2011.

James served multiple tours in Iraq, including one as an Intelligence Operations Officer.  James returned to the Middle East as a contractor in Afghanistan while remaining in the Reserves.  After completing his contracting overseas, remaining vigilant, he immediately transitioned into his occupation of Investigator.  Among his many medals and commendations awarded during his Active and Reserve service were the Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal with Campaign Star, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Humanitarian Service Medal, GWOT Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation, Letter of Appreciation, Certificate of Appreciation, Meritorious Mast, Rifle Expert Badge and Pistol Sharpshooter Badge.

James relocated to Southern California where he began working as a fugitive recovery agent and a licensed private investigator, leading one of the largest independent bail recovery teams in California, The US Fugitive Service.

James is survived by his wife, Michelle and five children, Austin (22), James III “Trey” (20), Ashlynne (15), Logan (9), and Aleena (2); his mother, Teresa; two sisters Tanya and Donna; two brothers Joe and Brian; and a multitude of family and friends.
