The family of Ammon Del Merari, 76, has invited the PGR to participate in honoring his life and service to his country. It will be a privilege to do so.

Ammon Del Merari, more commonly known as Royce, was born in El Paso on April 23, 1943. He lived in El Paso, Oklahoma, and eventually made his way to LA when he was in his early teens. Once old enough, he served his country in the Navy aboard a search and rescue submarine from Feb 5, 1962 to Jan 30, 1964.

After the Navy, Ammon started working as a car salesman in Los Angeles in the early 70’s, that is where his love of buying and selling cars began. While working at a dealership, one of his co-workers started calling him “Royce”. He told Ammon he looked more like a Royce than an Ammon and that name stuck with him for the rest of his life. After working there and learning the tricks of the trade he decided to open his own car dealership in the 80’s...he named it Thunderbird Motors. He was now his own boss until he retired in the late 90’s.

Even though he was afraid to fly, Ammon still loved to travel to new places. His favorites were Sedona, Palm Springs and even Canada. He was a patient individual with a kind heart that loved to listen.
He touched so many lives and had a calling to teach, that not only brought joy to himself but also to the ones he taught. He took pleasure in little things, such as going to see the latest action movie in theaters, or taking a drive to be in nature.

He leaves behind a blessed legacy with 3 children and 5 grandchildren. He will always be remembered for the values and knowledge he shared with his loved ones.
