The family of Raul Agundez Martinez has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to be present to honor their Hero for his military service and his service in the community in Law Enforcement.  It will be our privilege to do so.

Raul served in the Army from March of 1970 to August of 1971 and did a one-year tour in Vietnam. Raul received a National Defense service medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Sharp Shooter (M-16). He had achieved the rank of SP4 at the time of discharge.

After being honorably discharged from the Army, Raul went on to serve 30 years as a California Highway Patrolman. After his 30 years he retired. Raul was a sports lover, a baseball player and a boxer. He was famously popular for his self-taught cooking skills. He loved to travel, bet on sports and tell jokes. Raul was definitely known for his love of spending time with his family.

Raul Martinez is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years, Maria Martinez. They were sweethearts from middle school. Raul had two brothers Fernando and Rodolfo. Raul & Maria had four children, Raul, Claudia, David and Victoria. Raul also had 9 grandchildren.

Raul was in fairly good health until he contracted COVID. His battle was brief and he ultimately passed from this awful virus a month ago.

NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran. For those interested, and all are welcome, we will be accompanying the hero and his family from the mortuary to his final resting place. Please see the timetable if you would like to participate. For those who would rather go directly to the cemetery, we will meet you there.
