The oldest son of Carpio Santiago, 91, Rudy "Chief" Santiago, PGR member since 2005, has invited his PGR family to be there to honor his father for his funeral service.  It would be our honor to do so.

Carpio Santiago was born in Puerto Rico and enlisted in the U.S. Army at 17 yrs of age in August, 1942.  He served with the 815th AMTB Battery in Curacao protecting and defending the oil refineries during the war.  After V-E Day he was shipped back to Puerto Rico to prepare for the invasion of Japan.  He served until he was honorably discharged in December, 1945 at the rank of Private First Class.

After his military service he settled in New York and worked for Republic Aviation until 1964, when he moved to California.  He went to work for Lockheed Aircraft in Burbank and his last job before retiring was as a typesetter for the Los Angeles Times.  Carpio was also a licensed barber and did this part-time during his career.

He loved music and enjoyed playing the harmonica. He also loved baseball, fishing and doing various jobs around the house.

Carpio is survived by 3 sons, 9 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.  Oldest son Rudy is a retired Navy Chief.
