The family of Army Air Corp Lawrence Johnston has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to honor their hero for his service and sacrifice to his country. It will be our privilege to do so.
Lawrence served honorably from 1939 to 1945. During the latter stages of WWII he was a Liaison Pilot with the160th Liaison Squadron, 3rd Air Commando Group during the Southern Philippine Campaign. He earned a Purple Heart when injured there.  Other citations received during his service include the Asiatic - Pacific Theatre Ribbon, Philippine Liberation Ribbon (with one Bronze Star), Good Conduct Ribbon and the American Defense Ribbon. He had attained the rank of Sergeant at discharge.

Following his service Lawrence worked for the US Postal Service in Moreno Valley, retiring from there to Palm Desert in 1965.  He loved to work with concrete in building projects and enjoyed golf. Lawrence is survived by three children and five grandchildren.

Mr. Johnston was interred at Riverside National Cemetery without ceremony or honors in August, 2015.  The services now scheduled, with the immediate family present, will be for full military honors with the Air Force Honor Guard.
