The family of Joe Emiliano Diaz Rodriguez, 80, has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to be present to honor this hero for his service to his country.  It will be our privilege to do so.

Joe was born in Puerto Rico and emigrated to Long Island, NY with his family.  In 1954, Joe enlisted to the US Marine Corps where his heart for the sport of boxing was shaped. He trained hard and was involved with the USO where he always worked to better himself in and out of the ring.

Joe relocated to his present home of Southern California and opened a successful business in Ocean Beach called "The Rug Man" where he worked with customizing flooring in homes and on boats. Currently, he owned the successful "All American Carpet Service", a nod to his American pride.

Joe was regularly found in his sneakers, cycling, running or lifting. He participated in many marathons including the Boston Marathon on more than one occasion.  He enjoyed boxing, golfing, fishing, riding his Harley.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, siblings and a granddaughter Haley.  He is survived by 2 siblings, 3 daughters and 2 grandsons.

The family has requested a Flag Line as this hero receives his Final Honors at Miramar National Cemetery.
