The family of Major Malcolm Storey Rawlins has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to be present to honor this hero for his service to his country.  It will be our privilege to do so.

Major Rawlins proudly served our country in the United States Marine Corps for 31 years, from 1945 through 1976.  He was a veteran of World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War.  He was recognized for his service by earning the Victory Medal, China Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Navy Commendation Medal, Mediterranean Middle East War Zone Bar, Atlantic War Zone Bar, Pacific War Zone Bar, Meritorious Unit Commendation, and the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry.

Major Rawlins was very proud to be a Marine, and he had a strong love for the Marine Corps that never left him.  He was known to always wear either a USMC shirt or hat, to proudly display his love of the Marines.  After his retirement from the Marine Corps, he purchased the Harbor Gift Shop in Oceanside, Ca.  He loved working there with his family, and particularly enjoyed when fellow Marines came into the store so they could exchange Marine stories.  His family continues to operate the gift shop.

Malcom is survived by his long-time wife Daliah, who he met while on Embassy Duty in Israel.  He is also survived by a daughter and son, 7 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren.

Malcolm’s family has requested flag line honors during their hero’s internment services at Eternal Hills Memorial Park in Oceanside.  We will provide a short accompaniment from the chapel to the internment site, so bring your big flags.

Note: This notice is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran.  For those interested, and all are welcome, please see the time table if you would like to participate.
