Part 2 of a 2 part mission.

The family of US Naval Aviator Lieutenant Commander Frederick Peter Crosby has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to be present to honor their hero for his service to his country.   It will be our privilege to do so.

LCDR Crosby, 31, was attached to VFP-63 (Light Photographic Squadron SIXTY-THREE, Detachment ECHO), serving aboard U.S.S. Bon Homme Richard (CVA-31).

On 1 June, 1965, LCDR Crosby was piloting his Vought F-8 Crusader on a reconnaissance mission over North Vietnam.  After completing the run, this hero’s aircraft was brought down by enemy fire.  For his actions that day LCDR Crosby was posthumously awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross.  He was also awarded the Vietnam Service Medal, the Air Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Purple Heart.

NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran. For those interested, and all are welcome, we will be accompanying the hero and his family to his final resting place.  Please see the time table if you would like to participate. For those who would rather go directly to the cemetery, we will meet you there.

Note: Professional motor escorts have been hired and will assist in controlling traffic for our procession.
