  • Harley riding grandma who loves Jesus!
The family of Armando Veta Mendoza has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to be present to honor their hero for his service to his country.  It will be our privilege to do so.

Armando proudly served in the U.S. Army from 02/27/74 to 02/26/76.  He was stationed at Ft Bragg, North Carolina and later deployed to Vietnam.  He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and the Marksman Badge M-16 Rifle.

Armando was a cable engineer and owner of “Mondo’s Motorcycle Stop” in Escondido, CA.  He enjoyed fishing, reading, camping, playing his guitar, working on Harleys, and was a mastermind of tricks and trivia.  He enjoyed and treasured spending time with his children.

He leaves behind his father, Joaquin Mendoza; two sons, Armando Mendoza, Jr., and Antonia Mendoza; four grandchildren, three sisters, and many nieces and nephews.  He is loved and missed by everyone. Our hearts are full of pain and sorrow, this world lost a great man and he will never be forgotten.  “Rest in Paradise Mando.”

NOTE: This mission posting facilitates your voluntary participation in honoring this military veteran. For those interested, and all PGR members are welcome, we will be accompanying our hero and his family from the church to the cemetery.  Please see the timetable if you would like to participate.  We will meet you there for those who would rather go directly to the cemetery.

You do not have to be a veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission.  All PGR members are welcome.  We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car.  If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the Ride Captain (RC).  Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car).  Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can.  Please ride/drive safely.

Please remember that our mission is to stand tall and silent, and with honor and respect for our Heroes.  No talking, smoking, or cell phone use during the flag line or service.  Please keep radios off and engine noise to a minimum. Observe the 15 MPH speed limit.  Remember, cemeteries are hallowed ground.  Show respect to all who are there, not just the ones we are honoring.
