The family of LCDR George E Biddlecombe III, 88, have invited the Patriot Guard Riders accompany their hero to his final resting place.  We are honored to fulfil their request.

LCDR Biddlecombe passed away peacefully surrounded by family in Riverside, CA on March 12, 2025.  George was a decorated veteran who served during the Vietnam War and spent 23 years, 9 months on active duty.

George was born on January 1, 1937, in Orange, New Jersey to his parents George II and Beulah Biddlecombe.  When he was 18, George enlisted the United States Navy and attended technical training schools at Norman, Oklahoma and Jacksonville, Florida as an AE “A” Aviation Electricians Mate and ANP Aviation Machinists Mate, Petty Officer.  In 1960, George received an Honorable Discharge and accepted a commission in the USNR as an Ensign, remained on active duty, and began flight training.  During his time in Jacksonville, Florida, he met and fell for Susan, whom he soon married in 1963.  George and Susan had three children George IV, Suzanne and Sharon.

After serving on the USS Coral Sea with deployments to Vietnam, George was stationed in; Iwakuni Japan, Moffett Field Naval Air Station in Sunnyvale, California, Naval Air Station Corpus Christi, TX as a flight instructor and his final duty station was Port Hueneme, CA where he deployed twice to Antarctica with Operation Deep Freeze as Air Operations Manager.  During his time in the Navy George spent 10 years, 5 months on foreign or sea service, and earned the Antarctic Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Korea), Republic of Vietnam Armed Forces Meritorious Unit Citation, Meritorious Unit Citation, Navy Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Ribbon, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, CNO Aviation Safety Award Citation and Good Conduct Medal.

After retiring and settling in San Bernardino, CA, George continued his career with Aerojet Aerospace Corp. and Lockheed among others.

When George wasn’t working, he had a passion for supporting his children’s athletic pursuits in swimming and working on his Triumph’s.  He also donated much of his time while he was still able at the Humane Society of San Bernardino.

George was predeceased by his beloved wife of 53 years, Susan. He is survived by his sister Nancy Crowly, children George Biddlecombe IV, Suzanne Heaton, and Sharon Colwell.  He was very proud of his nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
