Carl B. Coen, 96, US Army – WWII – Beaumont/RNC – 08 Dec

The family of Carl B. Coen, 96, has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to join them as they bid a final farewell to their hero.  We are privileged to do so.

Carl was drafted to active duty during World War II that same year.  Interestingly, Carl had been captured by the Japanese and while being taken marched to a location, they were bombed by a US air strike.  When Carl regained consciousness, the trees were on fire and he realized he had been spared and the Japanese soldiers had been killed.  He earned four Bronze Stars with three Arrowhead Devices while in the Pacific.

After Carl left the military, he started his own flooring company and performed many accomplished wood crafting projects for notable Hollywood stars.  In 1983, Carl went to the Philippines to oversee the construction of the Precious Moments Factory.  It is there where he met his wife, Margie.  He eventually retired from the Riverside Sheriff’s Department as an accomplished woodcrafter after 27 years.  One of his favorite pastimes was to write poetry and even has a book on Amazon – Timeless Recollections: Echoes of the Past from a One-Room Schoolhouse.

Carl is survived by his wife Margie, of 35 years, and one son, Carl Leslie Coen, and one daughter, Natasha Coen Boffa.
