The family of Larry Gene Hood has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to join them as they bid a final farewell to their hero. We are honored and privileged to fulfill their request.

Larry was born on 09/01/1947 and sadly succumbed to Covid on 10/06/2021.  He served in the USMC from 1967 to 1969 and exited at the rank of Lance Corporal.  He served in Vietnam from 1968-69 when he was injured and was returned to Camp Pendleton Hospital to recover.

After his military service, he worked as a meat cutter for 8 years.  Larry loved dogs and worked raising show dogs such as Dobermans, St. Bernard's, and Bull Mastiffs. Because he suffered from PTSD, working with the show dogs and his love for dogs was very therapeutic for him.  Larry eventually became homeless, wondering between states for approximately 44 years until his passing.

Lee is survived by his wife, Donna, three children, and seven siblings, four living and three deceased.  Larry is the only sibling who will be present today.

NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran. For those interested, and all PGR members are welcome, this is a flag line only mission at Miramar National Cemetery. For those who would like to participate, please see the timetable and we will meet you there.

NOTE: Please observe the latest “COVID-19” restrictions and have a face covering should the need arise.
