The family of Charles Daniel Knapp, 73, has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to be present to honor their loved one for his service to his country. It will be our honor to do so.

Our Hero passed away from cancer on October 23, 2021 after living a full life in Apple Valley, CA. He was New Jersey born, graduating from Hackinsack at the New York border.

He  enlisted into the Army in 1967 during the Vietnam War but he never entered the war zone. He was honorably discharged in 1969 at the rank of PFC.

He was an auto mechanic by trade both in civilian and military life. He insisted that his children also learn the basics in automobile care for which they claim they are grateful. He comes from a long line of motorcycle riders too.

After laboring under the hood for 30 years he and his wife, Hanna, became realtors and owned Century 21 Desert Rock in 1988 until their retirement in 2015.  He served as the President of the High Desert Association of Realtors in 2006 as well served on the Multiple Listing Service Committee for many years.

He enjoyed teaching technology, playing the guitar and ukulele and became a member of the Rancho Cucamonga strummers. He and his wife enjoyed cruising the highways in their motorhome and he was also a licensed pilot.

Mr. Knapp is survived by his wife of 44 years, Hanna, a son Kenneth of Tucson, AZ and daughters Tina Bruinsma of TN and Carol Lavoie of CA. He had 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Two sisters and 2 brothers complete the survivor list.

This will be an indoor event with military honors and many guests are expected. COVID precautions should be considered. It is unknown if the mortuary has mandatory indoor masking rules. Private graveside services will be held at a later date.

Weather conditions are expected to be mild and the morning commute up the Cajon Pass should be OK but it is The Pass.

NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran.
