William H. Link, 92, USAF, Poway/Miramar - 18 NOV
« on: November 16, 2021, 03:26:18 AM »
The family of William H. Link, 92, has invited the Patriot Guard Riders (PGR) to attend the Military Honors of their loved one as he makes his final journey. It will be our honor to do so.

William joined the NAVY ROTC in 1945, and then joined the US Air Force from 1950 until 1954.  He served in the Korean War as a Radar Technician.  Then, he was stationed at Warren Air Force Base, Wyoming, where he was an Aircraft Mechanic Instructor and Power Man.  For his service, William was awarded the Korean Service Medal, U.N. Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and a Good Conduct Medal.  Upon his honorable discharge, William had attained the rank of Airman First Class.

After his discharge from the Air Force, William married Deila Denes, and moved back to his native San Diego, where he obtained a degree in Industrial Arts. He opened a family operated nursery business in San Diego, and was a founding member of the VFW Post 3787.  He moved to Colorado in 1960 where he raised his three daughters and lived for 35 years.  While living in Colorado, he worked as a real estate appraiser for Jefferson County. He loved the Colorado mountains and riding his motorcycle in them.  Upon his retirement, he moved back to San Diego, and was a member of American Legion Post #149 in Escondido.

William is survived by 3 daughters, 6 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
