The family of Anthony Benny Martinez have asked the Patriot Guard Riders to pay Honors on their Hero's final journey home. It will be our honor to do so.

Tony, as he was known by family and friends, was 93 years old at the time of his death. He was born on June 6, 1925 and passed on October 10, 2018.

He served in the United States Army from September 1, 1943 to August 23, 1945.  Tony was a member of the 32nd Infantry Division that fought in New Guinea, Luzon and Mindanao in the Philippines.  During the invasion of the Philippines, Tony was wounded resulting in the loss of his leg.

Among his awards were the Asiatic Pacific Theatre Medal, Philippine Liberation Medal, Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal, and the WWII Victory Medal.  At the time of his discharge, Tony was a Private First Class.

After his discharge, Tony returned to his job as a sheet metal specialist, where he remained for 45 years.

His favorite sports teams were the Rams, Dodgers, Lakers, Notre Dame, and USC.  Tony used to take his grandchildren to the Ram practices before they moved to St. Louis.  Coming together as a family over the holidays was very important to Tony.

He is survived by his son Anthony, 8 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren.  Tony was preceded in death by his wife Aurora, and daughters Judy Martinez and Lorraine Vargo.  Aurora was interred at RNC when she passed, Tony will be interred by her side.
