We have been asked by friends of Charles “Charley” Morales to do military honors for their friend. It will be our privilege to do so.

Charley died at the age of 76 years old.  He was born in 1950 in the Bronx, New York.

Joined the Navy in 1970 and discharged to the Naval reserves in 1973.  He was Boatswain's mate “Airdale.” His rank at the time of discharge.

While Charley was Active Duty, he was part of VAW-11-DET, Carrier Airborne Early Warning Squadron 11, nicknamed the “Early Elevens”

Naval Reserve AMS-7210, 807 bodyman Trans Equipment.

Charley was Honorably Discharged from the Navy on 07/07/75.

While serving he was awarded the defense service medal, Vietnam campaign medal, Vietnam service medal with one bronze star.

After leaving the Navy, Charley was a shipyard worker "yard bird" for 42 years, working for both Howard and David Gordon.

Charlie was a kind and generous man, always the first to stay late and help a coworker in need—whether with car troubles, a ride home, or simply offering support when it was needed most.

One example of Charlie’s compassion was his weekly visits to the Chula Vista Veterans Home, where he spent time with an elderly former coworker and fellow veteran, “Big” Al Hayter. Al, an amputee, passed away from diabetes in 2025 and Charlie’s friendship and presence meant a lot to Al.

Charlie was a stand-up guy and a true friend to many. His friends' memories of Charlie will live on in all who knew and loved him.

This mission will be done at Miramar National Cemetery. Committal “A”. Start at approx. 8:45. Following the Veterans w/o Families ceremony. The Patriot Guard will do full military honors for our hero.

Charley was cremated & placed in column 4 at Miramar Nat. Cemetery on April 7th. 2026.

He has no living relatives that can be found. So, we will be his family & we will do military honors for him. He does have personal friends in town & they will join us for the ceremony.

Timetable, 12 May 2026
