The family of PFC Brandon Michael Bergsma, age 26, and the US Army have invited the Patriot Guard Riders to be present as our Hero is returned home to his family in California, and for his funeral services.  We will be honored to be there.

PFC Brandon Bergsma enlisted in the US Army in August, 2019, after boot camp he trained as a Bradley Tank Mechanic and was assigned to Ft Bliss in Texas at the time of his passing unexpectedly.  He was attached to FSC, 501st Brigade Support Battalion,1 SBCT, Ft Bliss, TX.

He was known by his unit as a hard worker who always had grease on his hands, and who went above and beyond what was asked of him. At times he was even called upon on a number of occasions to help fix the cars of others in his battalion. He was also known for being the one to have everyone laughing and trying to cheer everyone up when it was rough.

Brandon was known as "Spanky" by friends and family. He was born April 11, 1994 in Downey, CA. The son of Christian Bergsma and Laurice Bonham.

He loved his family and friends with all his heart, nothing in the world was more important to him than his loved ones.

He was predeceased by his beloved Grandfather Arthur Bergsma and is survived by his Parents, Grandmothers, Sheila Bergsma and Diane Savage and Grandfather Rick Bonham. In addition to his many beloved Family and Friends.

NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this American Hero. For those interested, and all PGR members are welcome, we will be accompanying the hero and his family from the airport to the mortuary, approx 20 miles. Please see the time table if you would like to participate. For those who would rather go directly to the mortuary, we will meet you there.

This mission involves an aircraft arrival. Arrival times can change at the last minute so please check this thread for any last minute changes before leaving

You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. All PGR members are welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the R/C (Ride Captain).  Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car).  Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can.  Please ride/drive safely.
