The family of Richard "Dick" Meadows has requested our presence to Honor this Great American Hero.  It will be our absolute honor to do so.

Dick dropped out of high school to join his two older brothers already in USMC in WWII.   All three brothers served in combat at the same time in the Pacific Theater.

Dick served as Company Runner and mortar man.  His battles were fought in Tarawa, Saipan, Tinian, Okinawa and Occupation Forces in Nagasaki, Japan.    During that time Dick received the Presidential Commendation for service on Tarawa.

Dick was married to the love of his life for 69 years. They corresponded for 18 months while he was overseas, having never met.

Dick was discharged with an Honorable Discharge from the United States Marine Corp. He attained the rank of Corporal serving from 1942 - 1945

After Dick's time in the Marine Corp he worked as a glassblower, salesman of landscape and nursery supplies, and general sales manager of a manufacturer of electric vehicles.

They all lived in Orange, CA since 1958.  Dick was active in Rotary International (Paul Harris Fellow), First Presbyterian Church of Orange, and the Orange weekly flag lowering every Wednesday at the Orange Circle.  Out of doing this for 5 yrs. he only missed a handful of Wednesdays.  In Dick's spare time he did  extensive woodworking.

Dick loved high school and college sports, playing golf, domestic and international travel.

He is survived by his wife of 69 years, three daughters, four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
