The family of Xuan Nguyen has requested the PGR to attend the services of their Hero as an Allied Force member.  We will be honored to do so. The request comes from the Hero’s son who is a PGR member in North Carolina and will be here for the service.

PGR National is aware of this request and fully authorizes it. They state that there have been several similar missions along our northern border to honor Canadian Forces that fought alongside the US Military in combat.  This will be the first such mission in SoCal.

Captain Nguyen fought in Vietnam along side our U.S. troops from 1960-1975, until the Fall of Saigon, as an officer in the Republic of South Vietnam Army.  He was captured by the North Vietnamese and placed in a “re-education” camp until 1979.  Once released he and his family escaped Vietnam by boat and was lost at sea for several days until a Panamanian cargo vessel found them and transported them to Japan.  He was able to obtain US sponsorship and moved to North Carolina in 1982.  He eventually wanted to move to somewhere “warm” and came to California.  He worked in the electronics industry.

His son, Vu, remained in North Carolina.  Vu visited Washington DC, saw the Vietnam Memorial and was overwhelmed by how many Americans perished fighting to free his country.  He developed a desire to “give back” to all those who perished and has since been on every Run For the Wall event since its inception.  In 2011 he joined the PGR and is very active in his area having participated in over 100 missions.  He will be present at his father’s service and is very humbled and grateful for the PGR honoring his father and will be standing the flag line with us.

Xuan is survived by his wife, Thuy; sons Vu, Andy, Tony, Mike and his daughter Cindy.

This will be a “Flag Line Only” mission during the visitation at the funeral home that should last approximately 1 ½ hours.  After that a Buddhist service will take place.  There will be no internment as our Hero will be cremated and have his ashes spread at sea.

NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran. Please see the time table if you would like to participate.

You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. Everyone is welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the R/C (Ride Captain).  Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car).  Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can.  Please ride/drive safely.

Please post your condolences at the National link:
