The family of Lawrence Matthew Rivera, has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to be present to honor this hero for his service to his country.  It will be our privilege to do so.
 
Lawrence Matthew Rivera, went by his middle name of Matthew (Matt).  Matt joined the US Army at the age of 17.  He trained at Ft. Knox, Kentucky and served in the 3rd Brigade, 2nd Armored Division also known as "Hell on Wheels".   Matt served from 1974 to 1977, during this time he received the National Defense Service Medal and the Marksman Badge.
 
Matt, an accomplished angler, worked at San Diego Gas & Electric 33 1/2 years primarily as a Electrical Lineman, General Foreman/Contract Administrator overseeing contract crews during fires, Fault Finder and finished his career in Design Review.    He retired early at the age of 55.
 
Matt is survived by his wife, his daughter, his mother, 4 siblings and 2 grandchildren.
 
We have been asked to accompany Matt and family from the church service in Escondido to his final resting place at Miramar National Cemetery, a distance of approximately 30 miles.
 

NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran. For those interested, and all are welcome, we will be accompanying the hero and his family from the church services to his final resting place. Please see the time table if you would like to participate. For those who would rather go directly to the cemetery, we will meet you there.

You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. Everyone is welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the R/C (Ride Captain).  Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car).  Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can.  Please ride/drive safely.
