The family of Colonel James Rossiter Sweeney (Ret), has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to be present to honor this hero for his service to his country.  It will be our privilege to do so.
 
COL Sweeney served proudly in the USMC for 29 years and was deployed to Vietnam.  During his military career he was:

-        Company Commander & Instructor – Officer Candidate school

-        Assoc Professor, Tulane University, Naval Reserve Officer Training Corp.

-        Company Commander and Battalion Commander during first tour in Vietnam.

-        Adviser to the Assistant Commandant of the Vietnamese Marine Corps during his second tour in Vietnam.

-        Marine Corp representative during the NAVSTAR development.

-        Commanding Officer of the Schools Battalion, Camp Pendleton.

 
COL Sweeney retired in 1982 as a Colonel.
 
NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran.  For those interested, and all are welcome, we will be accompanying this hero and family from the mortuary to his final resting place.  Please see the time table below if you would like to participate.

1000 – Flag Line, Funeral Service with Full Military Honors

You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. Everyone is welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the R/C (Ride Captain).
