Larry Joe Cook, 76, US Navy, Vietnam Era, Riverside - 10 DEC 18
« on: December 07, 2018, 12:58:10 AM »
The family of Larry J. Cook, 76, has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to attend their loved ones services at Riverside National Cemetery, it will be our honor to do so.

Larry Joe Cook served in the United States Navy as a Medical Photographer during the Vietnam War from February 1963 to October 1982.  At the time of his discharge he reached the rank of Hospital Corpsman First Class.

When he retired, Larry went to work for the Naval Golf course in Long Beach (so he could stay connected to the military life).  While working there, he was struck by a truck going to work in 1993, where he obtained a severe traumatic brain injury and almost died.  Since that time, he has been required to have constant 24 hour care and his family has had to advocate and speak for him.  It has been a long road, but he has always been proud of his service to his country.  It is now time to send him off with the best military honors/service possible.  Larry was a fighter and never gave up or complained, even when the doctors gave up.

Larry is survived by a sister Sara Lou Ann Holmes, 2 children April Marier, daughter and son Michael Cook.  He also leaves behind 4 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran.
