The family of William E. Richard has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to be present to honor this hero for his service to his country.  It will be our privilege to do so.

Mr. Richard proudly served his country from August of 1942 through November of 1944 in the United States Army Air Corps.  He was part of the “Greatest Generation”, having served in the China-Burma-India Theatre during World War II. William was an Airplane Maintenance Technician, and for his service he received the Asiatic Pacific Service Medal, and a Good Conduct Medal.  William had attained the rank of Sergeant upon his honorable discharge.

After William’s discharge from the Army Air Corps, he worked as a Civilian Naval Aviation Mechanical Engineer, until his retirement in 1984.

William is survived by his wife Trudy, his 3 sons Bob, Bill, and Gary, his 5 daughters Mimi, Chris, Cheryl, Dianne, and Trudy Lynn, 27 grandchildren, and 21 Great Children.

The family has requested an accompaniment from St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Encinitas to Miramar National Cemetery, a distance of approximately 18 miles.  It will be our honor to do so.

Note: This notice is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran.  For those interested, and all are welcome, please see the time table if you would like to participate.  For those who would rather go directly to the cemetery, we will meet you there.
