Per request of our good friend and PGR member Gregg “Digger” Walker (Walker Family Funeral Services), the family of William Herman Sauter has requested the presence of the Patriot Guard Riders to honor this American Hero; it will be our honor to do so.

William was born in Gloucester, New Jersey on 17 May 1919 and entered Eternal Rest on 23 February 2018 in Idaho at the age of ninety-seven.

William was in the U.S. Army from 1938 to 1941. After Pearl Harbor he transferred to the Navy proudly serving his Country for more than two years aboard the U.S.S. Vicksburg as a Seaman First Class in the Pacific during War World II. Some of his awards/citations included the Victory Medal WWII and the American and Asiatic-Pacific Medal. William was honorably discharged from San Pedro in 1946.

After the military William worked as a boat builder and a truck driver for Pacific-Bell Telephone.

William is survived by his sons Bill and Bob. He also leaves behind many grandchildren as well as great-grandchildren.
