The family of Van Aggson has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to be present to honor their hero for his service to his country. It will be our privilege to do so.
Van Aggson, 60 years old, served his country in the Navy from 1978 to 1982. Last rank was STG3. He was trained to be a sonar tech. He was in the Navy for 3 years. His mother was diagnosed with breast cancer that had severely metastasized. His dad had to work to continue paying bills & health care needs. Van was the oldest child, so his dad wrote to the governor to ask that Van be released from service as he was needed at home to care for his dying mother. Van was granted an honorable discharge. Van lovingly & dutifully cared for his mother at home until her passing.
In his civilian life Van was an avid Harley rider. He was greatly involved with social issues & politics. He was active on line, posting news issues, political issues, etc. He had a large following by friends online. He was an adventurer at heart & he & his wife toured regularly via his Harley.
He is survived by his wife Debra Lynn. He had one sister Lianne Corbin. He had 3 children from a previous marriage and 2 step children from Debra’s previous marriage.
Van was a member of “Hog” “Harley Owners Group”. We project over 100 motorcycles to ride from the Harley dealer to S.D. Country Estates.
The family has requested an accompaniment from El Cajon Harley Davidson dealer to a park in the San Diego Country Estates. We the “PGR” will do a military funeral for the family. We will play taps, & the folding of the flag & I will give the wife (Debra) the flag. We will read the 13 folds as we do the folding. After the ceremony we have been invited to stay for food & join the celebration of life.

You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. Everyone is welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the R/C (Ride Captain). Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car). Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can. Please ride/drive safely.
