The family of William “Bill” Meditz has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to be present to honor their hero for his service.  It will be our privilege to do so.

Bill served proudly in the United States Marine Corps from 9-10-42 to 11-9-45. He was one of our Greatest Generation having served in the USMC in WWII, 4th Raider Battalion, 802nd Platoon, part of the Consolidation of Solomons, Viru Harbor, Guam, Okinawa and Ryukyu Island.

Bill spent his youth in Joliet, IL, with his mother and 10 siblings. After returning from the war, he married Bernice, the love of his life. She wrote him during the war and waited for him to return safely. Bill didn't talk much about the war after he got home. When his daughter would take him to his appointments at the VA Hospital, he would spend a lot of time talking to the other veterans in the waiting room. It was the only time he really talked about the war around his family. Bill and Bernice raised three daughters together. Bill enjoyed riding his "Harley" scooter to the VFW and American Legion.

Bill is survived by his three daughters (Sandra, Billie Sue and Cynthia), sister Evelyn (90 years old), brothers Al (96 years old) and Emil (100 years old), a sister-in-law, Phyllis, four grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. Bernice passed away in 2008. Bill will be interred with his wife, Bernice, at his service.
