It is an honor the family of Ernest “Neil” Ellis invites the Patriot Guard Riders to participate in his funeral and military honors.

Neil, a member of the “greatest generation”, was raised in Mesa, AZ. and was a star athlete in high school. Neil sensed his call to duty and joined the Navy in 1942 and served aboard the destroyer, USS Anderson as a Gunner's Mate.  Neil was honorably discharged in 1945, at the rank of Seaman 1st Class.

While in the Navy, Neil married his first wife, Elizabeth. Neil and Elizabeth returned to Arizona and in 1949 welcome their son, Dennis into the world. The family moved to California in 1950 where Neil completed his education in Mathematics and Engineering. After his first marriage ended, Neil married the love of his life, Nadine in 1954 and became the stepfather to Michael. In 1957 they had another son, Larry. Tragically, they lost Michael in Vietnam in 1967.

Neil went on to have a great career with Rockwell International and retired in 1985. Neil enjoyed playing golf and was an accomplished artist, painting real life nature scenes and animals.

Neil was preceded in death by his stepson, Michael Randall (KIA Vietnam) and is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Nadine; sons, Dennis Randall and Larry Ellis; two grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Note: This notice is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran. For those interested all are welcome.
