The family of William Sherwood Johnson Jr, U.S. Navy Veteran, has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to be present as he receives military honors for his service to our country. We would be privileged to do so.

William "Bill" Sherwood Johnson Jr., 78, was born on September 19, 1941 and entered into eternal rest on December 4, 2019.

Bill served in the US Navy from 1963 until his honorable discharge in 1967. He served 2 Tours of Duty in the Vietnam War on the USS Bon Homme Richard. At the time of his discharge he achieved the rank of Lieutenant.

Following his service in the US Navy, William was an international sales exec for a steel mfg.  for over 33 years. He was promoted to became Vice President of the company until his retirement. He continued to serve his country as a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, where he served as the Quartermaster for Post 5985, and a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 552.

William is survived by his loving family. wife Joann, daughter Lisa, his son Michael and two grandchildren. Bill was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Robert.

 NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran. For those interested, and all are welcome we will be meeting the family at the cemetery. Please see the time table if you would like to participate.

You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. Everyone is welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the R/C (Ride Captain).  Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car).  Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can.  Please ride/drive safely.

Please remember that our mission is to stand tall and silent, and with honor and respect for our Heroes. No talking, smoking, or cell phone use during the flag line or service. Please keep radios off and engine noise to a minimum. Observe the 15 MPH speed limit. Remember, cemeteries are hallowed ground. Show respect to all who are there, not just the ones we are honoring.
