**** TIME CHANGE ** TIME CHANGE ****

Times for this mission have now changed. Please see the update time table below.

It is an honor the family of Christopher Cortijo and the Los Angeles Police Department invites the Patriot Guard Riders to participate in the loss of their loved one.

Chris proudly served his country enlisting in the Marines in 1982 and was honorably discharged in 1985 at the rank of Corporal.  In 1988, Chris continued to serve joining the Los Angeles Police Department.  For the past 20 years Chris served as a motorcycle officer, protecting the community, arresting over 3000 alleged Driving Under the Influence drivers.  Chris was twice awarded the Los Angeles Officer of the Year for his excellence in serving the citizens of Los Angeles.  In March of 2014, Chris was recognized as Officer of the Quarter for Valley Traffic Division.

On 5 APR 14 while on duty and stopped at traffic light, Chris was struck from behind by an impaired driver traveling at a high rate of speed.  Chris succumbed to his injuries.  The driver was arrested for Driving Under the Influence and possession of Cocaine.

This is the second officer the Los Angeles Police Department has lost in a little more than a month due to a traffic accident, so let's bring our flags and show our respect in honoring this hero, his family and the Los Angeles Police Department.

The Los Angeles Police Department invites the PGR to attend graveside services.
