The family of Thomas William Chiappone, age 76, has asked the Patriot Guard Riders to honor him for his service in both the military and in law enforcement. It will be our honor to do so.

Tom was drafted at the age of 18 in 1960 and served in the United States Army in Vietnam as a Military Policeman until his Honorable Discharge in 1964.

After leaving the Army, Tom served as a Law Enforcement Officer with Rialto Police Department for 7 years and then went to the San Bernardino Police Department for 23 Years as a Detective until his Retirement.  It is at the San Bernardino PD where he met and became very close friends with PGR Ride Captain Chip Williams, who is attending as a member of the family.

Tom was also an Active Member of the VFW (Veterans of Foreign Wars). Thomas loved deer hunting, the outdoors, and spending time with his family.

Tom is survived  by his Wife Barbara, Son Carl who is a current San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department officer, Son Charles, 1 Brother, 2 Sisters and 3 wonderful Grand Children.
