The family of MSgt Richard L. Thompson, USAF (Ret), has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to be present when their Hero is honored at his funeral, we will be honored to do so.
MSgt Thompson served in the United States Air Force during Vietnam (66-67) in which he received the US Air Force Commendation Medal for Meritorious service as a jet engine mechanic. Richard served for 24 years, from 1957 to 1981 when he received his honorable discharge and retired at the rank of Master Sergeant.
MSgt Thompson was well loved and well respected by his family and neighbors. He was big fan of the Pittsburg Steelers attending several of their banquets, he also loved mechanical work, working on cars, photography, music, dancing, and taking road trips with his family.
MSgt Thompson is predeceased by his wife, Carole, of 50 years, and leaves behind his daughters Marcey Thompson-Wilson, and Lauri Thompson.

You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. All PGR members are welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed by the Rid Captain (R/C). Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car). Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can. Please ride/drive safely.
Please remember that our mission is to stand tall and silent, and with honor and respect for our Heroes. No talking, smoking, or cell phone use during the flag line or service. Please keep radios off and engine noise to a minimum. Observe the 15 MPH speed limit when driving at RNC. Remember, cemeteries are hallowed ground. Show respect to all who are there, not just the ones we are honoring.
