The family of David Montoya Gonzalez has invited the Patriot Guard Riders (PGR) to attend the Military Honors of their loved one as he makes his final journey. It will be our honor to do so.

David was born in Gallup, New Mexico on 24 May 1946.

David was in the U.S. Navy from 1963 to 1971 during the Vietnam War. Some of David’s awards/citations were the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and Vietnam Service Medal. At the time of his honorable discharge as a Machinist’s Mate Third Class (MM3), David was stationed aboard the USS Eversole (DD789) at the U.S. Naval Station, Long Beach.

Following his honorable discharge from the military, David retired from Georgia Pacific after twenty years.

David loved to play golf every Thursday with his three amigos. David and Martha were in a bowling league and would go to Vegas for a weekend of league tournaments. He loved to go camping and fishing every summer. We would go to June Lake with our neighbors. He also loved gardening, singing at family or friends’ gatherings, he was the life of the parties. David was also an usher at St. Vincent Ferrer Church for about four years and was active Knights of Columbus and was involved with Christmas planning for the Knights and golf tournaments.

David is survived by Martha, his wife of fifty years, and one daughter. He also leaves behind four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
