The family of Martin Anthony Zampiello, 72, USA, has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to attend the Military Honors of their loved one as he makes his final journey. It will be our honor to do so.

Martin was born 01 Nov 1948 and passed away 16 Feb 2021.  He served with the USA from 14 Feb 1969 to his Honorable Discharge on 12 Feb 1971.  On 20 Mar 1970, while serving in Vietnam, Fire Base Granite came under North Vietnamese attack.  Martin sustained an injury to his right eye that rendered him legally blind in the right eye for the remainder of his life.  He received a Purple Heart, Bronze Star, National Defense Medal, Air Medal, Overseas Service Bar, Good Conduct Medal, Sharp Shooter M14 Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and Vietnam Service Medal.

Martin is survived by his wife, Susanne. He loved to hold her hand and do everything with her. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on 18 Jul 2020.  They have four children: daughter, Danielle; sons, Philip, Dominic, and Gregory; grandchildren: Jake, Katherine, James, Luke, Charles, Christopher, Paul, Matthew, and Angelina.  He is also survived by brothers: Anthony and Thomas; and one sister, Maryjane.  Martin proudly attended all of his grandchildren’s school and sporting events.

NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran. For those interested, and all PGR members are welcome, we will be accompanying the Hero from his family home to his final resting place of approximately 45 miles.  Please see the timetable if you would like to participate.
