We have been invited by the family of William (Bill) Richard Beatty, 79, to attend the Military Honors of their loved one. It will be our privilege to fulfill their request.
Bill was born on 10 December 1945 and passed away in his home with his family present on 26 September 2025. On 08 February 1966, at the age of 20, he voluntarily enlisted in the Marine Corps where he did 2 tours in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged as a Sergeant on 30 March 1969. Due to injuries received in Vietnam, he lost sight in one eye and suffered many aliments due to exposure to Agent Orange. He rarely talked about what he did in Vietnam; in fact he was in special operations of some sort where he wasn’t allowed to talk about anything for 25 years. He earned the National Defense Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Service Medal (1 Star), and Republic of Vietnam Service Medal. According to his family, Bill was also awarded 2 Purple Hearts.
After his military career, Bill was a mechanic and truck driver. He loved his family, worked hard, and built classic cars as a hobby. He proudly rode his Harley with the American Legion Riders in Escondido Post 149.
His wife, Sherry, preceded him in death. Their ashes have been comingled and will be buried together at the funeral. He is survived by his children, Robert Beatty and Brandy Bowman. His son, James Beatty, passed in 2009. He also leaves behind 7 grandchildren (1 deceased), 5 great-grandchildren, and siblings, James Beatty, Patricia Williamson and Patty Beatty. His legacy lives on through all of them.

You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. All PGR members are welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this is your first mission, go to the initial staging area, and you will be briefed by the R/C (Ride Captain). Dress for motorcycle riding or wear casual attire while driving a cage (car). Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can. Please ride/drive safely.
Remember that our mission is to stand tall and silent with honor and respect for our Heroes—no talking, smoking, or cell phone use during the flag line or service. Please keep radios off and engine noise to a minimum. Show respect to all who are there, not just the ones we honor.
