John Henry Lewis, Jr, 41, USA/GWOT - FLO/RNC - 12 Dec

We have been invited by the family to attend the military honors of John Henry Lewis, Jr.  It will be our privilege to honor the family’s request.

John served as a Cavalry Scout in the United States Army and Army Reserve.  He earned the National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and Army Service Ribbon to name a few of his commendations.

After John returned to civilian life, he followed his passion for cooking and attended culinary school.  It was one of his ways to bring people together.  He also attended truck driving school.  John had a love for music and enjoyed many musical moments with friends and family.  He was a natural jokester with remarkable sense of humor.  He enjoyed playing adult football.

John is preceded in death by his beloved mother, Jacqueline, and brother, Jamal.  He leaves behind his father, John Henry Lewis, Sr., as well as his beloved daughter, Makayla; sisters, Jasmyne and Jaelyn; and a loving family of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.  He will be deeply missed by his Aunt Joyce.

John “will be remembered as a devoted father, a proud veteran, a creative soul, and a true friend who spirit will live forever …”

You do not have to be a veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission.  All PGR members are welcome.  We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car.  If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the Ride Captain (RC).  Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car).  Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can.  Please ride/drive safely.

Please remember that our mission is to stand tall and silent, and with honor and respect for our heroes.  No talking, smoking, or cell phone use during the flag line or service.  Please keep radios off and engine noise to a minimum.  Observe the 15 MPH speed limit.  Remember, cemeteries are hallowed ground.  Show respect to all who are there, not just the ones we are honoring.
