The family of BM1 Eugene Smith has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to be present to honor their hero for his service.  It will be our privilege to do so.

Eugene Smith served in WWII and the Korean War.  He served for 30 years in the Navy and was very proud of his service.  He was a member of the UDT (Underwater Demolition Team) and he earned these following awards:  Japanese Occupation, China Theatre, American Area Campaign, Asiatic-Pacific Area Campaign, World War II, Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal (2) European Theatre, Korean Service UN Service Medal.

Eugene was a Boy Scout leader throughout his life and he received the Silver Beaver Service award for his contributions to scouting.  He was also a foster parent for 20 years for countless children.  He and his wife recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on Oct 2, 2019. Eugene was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, sailor, Elder in the church, motorcycle rider (in his younger years), and one heck of a good guy.

You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. Everyone is welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the R/C (Ride Captain).  Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car).  Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can.  Please ride/drive safely.

Please remember that our mission is to stand tall and silent, and with honor and respect for our Heroes. No talking, smoking, or cell phone use during the flag line or service. Please keep radios off and engine noise to a minimum. Observe the 15 MPH speed limit. Remember, cemeteries are hallowed ground. Show respect to all who are there, not just the ones we are honoring.
