The family of James Anthony Santangelo, 86, has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to accompany the hero and his family to his celebration of life. It is our privilege to fulfill their request.
James Santangelo served in the United States Navy from 1956 to 1959 as an Seaman (E-3). His last duty assignment was served on the USS Northampton (CLC-1).
After being honorably discharged from the Navy, he began his career as a truck driver and joined his first Teamsters Union local in his home state of New Jersey. He relocated his family to Southern California and stayed quite active with the Teamsters as a labor leader in many roles for 50 years.
Santangelo’s commitment to the community lead him to train and join the City of El Monte Police Department as a reserve officer where he served as a Lieutenant.
James will be missed by his wife of 40 years, Kathy, 8 children, 18 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren. shared 40 years missed by his wife, Kathy Santangelo, and a blended family of eight children. He was a proud and loving Papa and Poppy to all his 17 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, loving every moment he spent with them.
NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this military veteran. For those interested, and all PGR members are welcome, we will be accompanying the hero and his family from the Marriott Hotel to the Teamsters Union Hall, approximately 3 miles. For those who would like to participate, please see the timetable and we will meet you there.
