The family of Modesto "Moy" Fernandez Marines has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to attend the final military honors of their Hero.  It will be our privilege to fulfill their request.

Moy served in the United States Army after his friends were all drafted during the Korean War.  He was a farm worker who went to see his friends off to boot camp. When he asked those in charge why he wasn’t drafted, he was invited to “get on the bus.”  He did and served in Korea for nearly two years as a driver dragging howitzers around the countryside.  He was proud of his service in Battery A, 52nd Field Artillery Battalion.  Moy served from 1951-1953 until he was badly injured in a non-combat situation.  He was medically discharged at the rank of Private (E-2).  He served honorably and received the Korean Service Medal w/2 Bronze Service Stars, the UN Service Medal, and Occupation Medal (Japan).

After his service to America, he worked for Rockwell Industries in the metal plating field and later working on the shuttle heat shields.  He retired after 35 years with that corporation. His hobbies included cars, baseball and boxing.  He was also invested in his son’s development in businesses they created together.  Moy’s son, Junior, has been invited to join in with the missing man on his 2020 Street Glide.

Our hero is survived by his children: Marla, Veronica, Modesto Jr., and Rosa.  He will be missed by his beloved 15 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.  Moy is also survived by 3 sisters and 1 brother.

You do not have to be a veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission.  All PGR members are welcome.  We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car.  If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the Ride Captain (RC).  Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car).  Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can.  Please ride/drive safely.

Please remember that our mission is to stand tall and silent, and with honor and respect for our heroes.  No talking, smoking, or cell phone use during the flag line or service.  Please keep radios off and engine noise to a minimum.  Observe the 15 MPH speed limit.  Remember, cemeteries are hallowed ground.  Show respect to all who are there, not just the ones we are honoring.
