The family of Michael Dean Terry, 75, has requested the assistance of the Patriot Guard Riders in honoring their Hero on the occasion of his Final Military Honors at Riverside National Cemetery.  We will proudly accommodate that request.

Mike served in the Navy and USNR from July 1966 - July 1972.  At the time of his honorable discharge his rating was AO-3 (E-4), Aviation Ordinance.  He served on the carrier USS Constellation in Vietnam and he received the Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and Navy Meritorious Unit Citation.  His exposure to Agent Orange resulted in his 100% disability.

Following his military service, he started Terry's Mobile Canvas approximately 40 years ago doing boat covers and working for the fire departments.  He decided to focus on the firefighting aspects which included making hosebed covers, on-site turnout repairs from his mobile unit, which he took to all Southern California's fire departments, CalFire and US Forestry.  Later in life, he decided not to work so hard and started doing graphics, which included large stickers for the actual fire trucks.  He then started to call it the Fireman's Toystore and sold flashlights, knives, rope bags, etc.  Michael was well respected by the firefighting community and they will be transporting his ashes to the ceremony.

He enjoyed motorcycling on his Honda Gold Wing w/sidecar, camping and days at the beach.

Our hero is survived by his son, Jay Terry; daughter, Ami Terry Anderson; and brother, Jack Terry.

You do not have to be a veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission.  All PGR members are welcome.  We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car.  If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the Ride Captain (RC).  Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car).  Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can.  Please ride/drive safely.

Please remember that our mission is to stand tall and silent, and with honor and respect for our Heroes.  No talking, smoking, or cell phone use during the flag line or service.  Please keep radios off and engine noise to a minimum. Observe the 15 MPH speed limit.  Remember, cemeteries are hallowed ground.  Show respect to all who are there, not just the ones we are honoring.
