Part 1 of 3 Parts

The family of LCpl Marco A Barranco, age 21, and the US Marine Corps have invited the Patriot Guard Riders to be present for their Hero's arrival home to his family for his funeral service, we are honored to be there.

LCpl Marco A. Barranco was serving with the US Marine Corps in Bravo Company, BLT 1/4, 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) when he perished in a training accident on board an Amphibious Vehicle off the coast of So California on July 30, 2020. LCpl Barranco joined the Marine Corps shortly after graduating High School and served proudly for 3 years.

Andy, as friends and family knew him, grew up in Montebello, California, and graduated from Montebello High School where he took up and excelled at boxing. He had a dream to become a Marine since his Junior year and enlisted shortly after graduating. He was always an outgoing person, making everyone laugh, just someone everyone loved being around. He was also very good at shuffle dancing, a dancing craze when he was in high school.

Andy was described as a “kind-hearted person with a lot of love to share,” on the page, put up by his uncle, Jorge Barranco.“Andy loved his family, loved his parents, loved his neighbors and everyone around him, always willing to help, lend a hand or ear,” Jorge Barranco wrote.

Montebello Mayor Salvador Melendez called his death “a tragedy. We’re eternally grateful for everything he did for his country.”  The citizens of Montebello recently held a candlelight vigil in front of the family home to remember Andy.  He will not be forgotten.

NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this American Hero. For those interested, and all are welcome, we will be accompanying the hero and his family from the airport to the mortuary, approx 27 miles. Please see the time table if you would like to participate. For those who would rather go directly to the mortuary, we will meet you there.
