SHORT NOTICE - Fred Coca Jr., 85, USA, Korea, Alhambra, 15 Sep.
« on: September 14, 2017, 02:53:39 AM »
The family of Fred Coca Jr. has asked the Patriot Guard to be with them as they say their final good-bye to their hero, and we are honored to be there.

Fred passed away just short of his 86th birthday, having spent more than 60 years with his loving wife, Margaret, and having faithfully served his country during the Korean War (1951-1954) with the United States Army.

Fred was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge, the United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and the Korean Service Medal with one Bronze Service Star.  He attained the rank of Corporal as a Track Vehicle Mechanic.

As a civilian, the military was never far from his thoughts as he worked tirelessly for Veterans rights and causes, with both the VA as a counselor, and as a member and past President of the American G.I. Forum.  He was much loved and respected in the community and has his name inscribed on the All Wars Memorial in Boyle Heights.

In addition, he was an avid outdoors-man, having grown up in and around Denver, Colorado.  He loved hunting and fishing and passed that love to his children.

Fred is survived by his wife of more than 60 years, Margaret; their children Debbie, Nora, and Rick; and his children Lisa Joy, Michael, and Jeana from a previous marriage as well as dozens of grand- and great-grandchildren.
