The family of Richard Barrera Gonzalez has invited the Patriot Guard Riders (PGR) to attend the Military Honors of their loved one as he makes his final journey.

It will be our honor to do so.

Richard was born in Los Angeles on 21 August 1942.

Richard was in the Marine Corps from October 1960 to September 1968. His tours of duty included Vietnam in 1966, 1967, and 1968. His awards/citations included the Vietnam Service Medal w/3 Stars, the Vietnam Campaign Medal w/devices, the National Defense Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal (2nd Award), the Purple Heart w/1Star, and the Rifle Badge(M-14) Sharpshooter. Richard received training in Counter Guerrilla Warfare, Projectionist Training, Rifle Squad Tactics, and Operations Against Guerrilla Forces. At his honorable discharge as a Sergeant (E-5), Richard was with ‘G’ Company, 2nd Battalion, 27th Marines, 1st Marine Division (Rein), FMF out of MCB, Camp Pendleton.

After the military, Richard worked for Southern California Edison for twelve years.

Richard loved watching movies and football and hanging out with his friends.

Richard is survived by his daughters Gabriella and Jennie Marie. He also leaves behind five grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

1145 – Flag line as our Hero is moved to the coach.

1200 – KSU assigned gravesite(Garden of Affection, Row 6 Plot 6) for Flag line, Service, and Military Honors.

You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. Everyone is welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this will be your first mission, go to the initial staging area, and you will be briefed there by the R/C (Ride Captain). Dress for motorcycle riding or wear casual attire if you are driving a cage (car). Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can. Please ride/drive safely.

Please remember that our mission is to stand tall and silent with honor and respect for our Heroes—no talking, smoking, or cell phone use during the flag line or service. Please keep radios off and engine noise to a minimum.
