The family of Robert Wayne Stearns has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to be present to honor this hero for his service to his country.  It will be our privilege to do so.

Robert Stearns, 68, was drafted into the US Army in 1969.   He entered basic training at Fort Ord, CA  and was soon sent to Da Nang, Republic of Vietnam, where he served with the 39th Engineer Battalion (CBT).  Robert was wounded while clearing tunnels in the A Sầu Valley for which he received a Purple Heart.    He eventually returned to duty and completed his tour in December of 1971.

Robert then entered training at the Leadership Academy at Fort Leonard Wood, MO where he became a Drill Instructor serving his final year at Fort Leonard Wood before his honorable discharge in 1972.

In civilian life Robert was an interstate trucker.  He is survived by his son Rob Stearns.

The family has requested a Flag Line Only as this hero receives his Final Honors.
