The family of John Arthur Floyd, USN has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to be present to honor him for his service to our country. It would be our honor to do so.

John A. Floyd joined the United States Navy in February, 1970 and served until February, 1976, attaining the rank of Sonar Man 2nd Class. A submariner, John served during the Vietnam War and the October Arab-Israeli War of 1973. A highlight of John’s service was tracking and getting on camera the Russians launching a missile from the deck of their cruiser for which he received a commendation.

John’s awards include the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Navy Expeditionary Medal, and Navy Unit Commendation.

After leaving the Navy, John worked for Graybar Electric Company for 39 1/2 years, retiring October 30, 2015. He loved football (the Pittsburgh Steelers) and NASCAR. John’s favorite drivers were Jeff Gordon and Jimmy Johnson.

John leaves behind his spouse, Debra A. Floyd, and 4 siblings, Ruth Ann Torres, Nancy Hammell, David and Richard Floyd.
